Industry Cluster Study ResultsThe Northern San Joaquin Regional Collaborative's (NSJRC) eight-county industry cluster study identifies those industries that are the source of job growth in Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne counties. They show employment growth trends in leading industrial clusters and an estimate of skill requirements in these industries. The research was conducted by Sacramento-based Applied Development Economics, Inc. (ADE), an economic development consulting firm. Describing the study results, Hazel Hill, Executive Board Member and Dean of Instruction for Vocational Education and Economic Development, San Joaquin Delta College said, "The outcomes of our work will have a significant impact on economic development in our region." Hill pointed out that "knowing what jobs are growing and what skills are in demand in industry will help us connect the education we deliver to the workplace -- that's critical to our economy." The preliminary results can be downloaded here: We also encourage you to provide comments on these results which will be used to develop the final Industry Cluster report. Go to the NSJRC forum to make your comments. Background The Northern San Joaquin Regional Collaborative is one of six workforce preparation and economic development projects in California created in 1999 under the Regional Workforce Preparation and Economic Development Act (RWPEDA). By connecting employment, economic development, welfare services, and education, the NSJRC is laying the groundwork for an integrated job preparation system that functions in a responsive and effective manner. The counties served by the NSJRC include Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne.
